Vanderbilt vs. Florida

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — A spot in the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game is on the line Saturday when seed Florida faces in-state rival and seed Vanderbilt in a semifinal at Bridgestone Arena.

The Gators (26-6), ranked nationally, enter as a 6.5-point favorite over the Commodores (25-7) in a matchup of teams that have combined to win 17 of their last 18 games. The over/under is 160.5.

Florida, which has won eight straight, advanced with a 71-63 victory over Kentucky on Friday. The Gators are powered by forward Alex Condon, who scored 22 points in that win and is averaging 20.7 points over his last seven contests. His versatility has been key for a Florida offense averaging 89.2 points during its winning streak.

Vanderbilt, riding a four-game win streak, countered with a 75-68 victory over Tennessee on Friday behind a career-high 30 points from guard Duke Miles. The dynamic scorer has averaged 19.7 points over his last three games and will be central to the Commodores’ upset hopes.

The teams met just once in the regular season, with Florida escaping with a 98-94 home win on Jan. 17. That result, and Florida’s current torrid pace, makes them the favorite. However, Vanderbilt’s recent form, including two wins over Tennessee and an overtime road victory at Mississippi, suggests a tightly contested rematch.

The winner will advance to Sunday’s SEC tournament final against either seed Alabama or seed Auburn.

Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m. EDT Saturday. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
