Rutgers vs. UCLA

Preview: Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. UCLA Bruins

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The UCLA Bruins will look to continue their late-season momentum when they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Big Ten men’s basketball matchup Thursday at the United Center.

UCLA (21-10) enters the contest having won three of its last four, including an 89-68 road victory over rival Southern California on March 7. The Bruins are led by dynamic guard Donovan Dent, who is averaging 20.3 points and 8.0 assists over his last four games. He scored 25 points with seven assists in the win over USC.

Rutgers (13-18) snapped a three-game skid with a 74-62 home win over Penn State on March 8. Forward Darren Buchanan Jr. anchored that victory with 13 rebounds and two assists. Buchanan has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in three of his last six outings.

The Bruins dominated the first meeting this season, routing Rutgers 98-66 in Los Angeles on Feb. 3. Dent orchestrated that win with 22 points and nine assists.

For UCLA, consistency from supporting players like Tyler Bilodeau and Eric Dailey, who combined for 35 points against USC, will be key. Rutgers will need scoring beyond Buchanan, with guards Tariq Francis and Angelino Mark providing offensive support after combining for 34 points in the last game.

The neutral-site game in Chicago is part of the Big Ten’s schedule. UCLA seeks to bolster its postseason resume, while Rutgers aims to close a difficult season on a high note and build momentum for the conference tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. EDT Thursday.
