Hofstra Edges Towson in Overtime Thriller
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Preston Edmead’s 3-pointer with three seconds left in overtime lifted Hofstra to a 68-65 win over Towson in a Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball game Monday at CareFirst Arena.
The Pride, which improved to 23-10, forced overtime by erasing a late second-half deficit. Hofstra’s Cruz Davis scored 18 points and Edmead finished with 22, including the decisive shot over a defender.
Towson’s Tyler Tejada led all scorers with 29 points. The Tigers, who fell to 19-15, led 55-52 with under three minutes in regulation but could not close it out. Both teams shot under 40% from the floor, but Hofstra’s 11 made 3-pointers proved critical in the narrow victory before a crowd of 1,582.
