William & Mary vs. Hofstra

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A potential preview of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament championship will unfold on a neutral court Sunday when Hofstra and William & Mary meet in a regular-season finale with significant seeding implications.

The game, scheduled for CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., pits the Pride (21-10) against the Tribe (20-11) in a clash of two of the conference’s hottest teams. Hofstra has won five of its last six games, while William & Mary rides a four-game winning streak into the contest.

William & Mary won the first meeting this season, 89-82, at home on Jan. 24. A victory Sunday would give the Tribe a season sweep and a crucial tiebreaker, while Hofstra aims to split the series and solidify its position near the top of the conference standings.

A key matchup will feature two of the CAA’s top guards. William & Mary is led by Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi, who is coming off a 25-point performance in a win over Elon on Saturday. Over his last eight games, he is averaging 14.0 points and 3.6 assists.

He will be countered by Hofstra’s Preston Edmead, a dynamic playmaker who logged 40 minutes and scored 19 points in a win over Drexel last Tuesday. In his last six outings, Edmead has averaged 14.5 points and 4.2 assists, serving as the engine for the Pride’s offense.

Both teams have shown offensive firepower. William & Mary has scored 90 or more points in three of its last four games. Hofstra’s defense, however, has been stifling during its recent run, holding opponents to 58 points or fewer in three of its last five victories.

The neutral-site setting in the nation’s capital adds an unusual layer to this late-season conference duel, offering a potential dry run for the CAA tournament set to begin later this week. With nearly identical records and contrasting styles, Sunday’s showdown promises high stakes and intense competition as both teams seek momentum entering the postseason.
