SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — East Tennessee State pulled away in the second half to defeat Wofford 86-72 in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Sunday at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

The Buccaneers led 41-39 at halftime before outscoring the Terriers 45-33 after the break. East Tennessee State’s defense was pivotal, generating 19 points off turnovers while holding Wofford to zero in that category. The Buccaneers also held advantages in points in the paint and fastbreak points.

The victory improved East Tennessee State to 16-7 overall. Wofford fell to 15-8. Attendance was 1,054. The result surpassed pregame projections, as East Tennessee State entered as a narrow favorite despite statistical models heavily favoring Wofford. The combined score fell under the betting over/under line.
