CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (Interstat) — The Akron Zips, coming off a dominant offensive performance, will face the Evansville Purple Aces in a non-conference men’s basketball game Sunday at the U.V.I. Sports and Fitness Center.

Akron (4-1) enters the contest with momentum after a 96-75 home victory over Iona on Friday. The Zips’ offense was fueled by Eric Mahaffey (20 points), Tavari Johnson (19 points) and Evan Mahaffey (16 points). Their only loss this season came on the road against a ranked Purdue team.

Evansville (3-3) is looking to build on its own positive result, a 73-69 road win against Oregon State on Friday. Key contributors in that victory included Joshua Hughes (16 points) and Leif Moeller (14 points). The Purple Aces have alternated wins and losses over their last five games.

The game is part of a multi-team event in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Following this contest, Akron will host Milwaukee on Nov. 29, while Evansville’s next game is at home against Ball State on Dec. 3.
