Cal State Fullerton at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Portland Pilots used a dominant first-half offensive explosion to cruise past the Cal State Fullerton Titans 103-85 in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday night at a sparsely attended Chiles Center.

Portland established control early, building a 15-point halftime lead behind a blistering shooting performance. The Pilots scored 57 points in the opening period, connecting on 63.6% of their shots from the field and 57.1% from beyond the arc. That efficient start proved insurmountable for the Titans, who struggled to contain Portland’s multifaceted attack.

Joel Foxwell led the charge for the Pilots, scoring a game-high 24 points. The guard from Melbourne, Australia, was instrumental in the first-half surge, helping Portland build its commanding lead. He was one of five Pilots to score in double figures, highlighting a balanced offensive effort.

Garrett Nuckolls added 20 points for Portland, while Mikah Ballew contributed 18. The frontcourt duo of Timo George from Amsterdam and James O’Donnell from Sydney each chipped in 14 points, with O’Donnell adding two blocks.

Despite the loss, Cal State Fullerton had several strong individual performances. Josh Ward led the Titans with 17 points, and Jaden Henderson filled the stat sheet with 15 points and eight assists. Landon Seaman also scored 15 for the Titans, who fell to 1-4 on the season.

The game was a tale of offensive efficiency. Portland finished the night shooting 63.5% from the field and 52.4% from three-point range. Cal State Fullerton was unable to match that pace, shooting 47.8% overall. The Pilots also won the battle in assists and steals, dishing out nine assists and recording nine steals compared to six assists and six steals for the Titans.

Portland improved its record to 4-1 with the victory, continuing a strong start to the season. The game was part of a multi-team event hosted by the Pilots at their home arena. Cal State Fullerton will look to rebound in its next contest, while Portland will aim to continue its winning ways as the event continues.
