Colorado State at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Interstat) — A surging Colorado State team riding a seven-game win streak will face a tough road test Wednesday night when the Rams visit the New Mexico Lobos at a sold-out Pit.

The Mountain West Conference clash, scheduled for March 4, 2026, features two of the league’s hottest teams entering the final week of the regular season. New Mexico (22-7 overall) sits near the top of the conference standings, while Colorado State (19-10) has played its way into postseason contention with its longest win streak of the season.

The Rams’ resurgence has been fueled by the all-around play of forward Jevin Muniz. Over the last seven games, Muniz has averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 assists, including a 12-point, 10-assist double-double in Saturday’s 85-73 road win at San Jose State. His versatility will be key against a formidable Lobos defense.

New Mexico, which defeated San Diego State 81-76 last Saturday, counters with guard Luke Haupt. He scored 17 points in that victory and is capable of explosive performances, as shown by a 30-point outing in a narrow loss to Boise State on Feb. 7. Haupt’s backcourt play will be central to the Lobos’ attack.

The Pit, one of college basketball’s most notorious home-court advantages, will provide a raucous backdrop. New Mexico won the first meeting this season, 80-70, in Fort Collins on Jan. 6. The Rams will seek to avenge that loss and extend their streak, but must overcome a venue where the Lobos have lost only once in conference play this season.

Both teams have critical regular-season finales on Saturday, with Colorado State hosting Boise State and New Mexico traveling to Utah State. Wednesday’s result will provide crucial momentum heading into next week’s Mountain West tournament.
