Preview: Tennessee Tech at Southeast Missouri State
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, riding a four-game winning streak, will host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in an Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball matchup on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Show Me Center.
The Redhawks (18-11 overall) enter with momentum and a clear edge in the standings, having won eight of their last 10 contests. Their recent success has been anchored by a balanced attack and stout defense, holding opponents to an average of 60.5 points during the current streak. Forward Marqueas Bell has been a key contributor, coming off a 12-point, six-rebound performance in a 70-65 road win at Arkansas-Little Rock last Saturday. Bell also erupted for 25 points in a win at Lindenwood on Feb. 14.
Tennessee Tech (13-16) has shown recent signs of life, winning three of its last four games, including a 72-57 victory over Lindenwood last Saturday. The Golden Eagles are led by guard JaJuan Nicholls, who averaged 17.8 points over his last six games. In the win over Lindenwood, Nicholls posted 16 points and eight rebounds, while teammates Brandon Muntu and Ty Owens each added 16 points.
The teams met earlier this season in Cookeville, Tenn., with Tennessee Tech securing an 85-74 victory on Dec. 18, 2025. The Golden Eagles will look to replicate that offensive output and complete the season sweep.
For Southeast Missouri State, a win would solidify its position near the top of the OVC standings heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Redhawks have been strong at home, boasting a 10-3 record at the Show Me Center this season.
Tennessee Tech, seeking to climb back to .500 in conference play, will need another high-level performance from Nicholls and improved consistency on the road, where they are 5-9.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
