Prairie View at Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Preview: Prairie View Panthers at Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams jockeying for position in the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings will meet Saturday when the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions host the Prairie View A&M Panthers.

The game is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2026, at the HPER Complex.

Both teams enter with nearly identical overall records. The visiting Panthers are 10-16, while the Golden Lions are 11-15. In their previous meeting this season on Jan. 12, Prairie View secured a 73-61 home victory.

The Panthers are coming off a 68-63 home win over Grambling on Monday. They will lean on guard Dontae Horne, who is in the midst of a prolific scoring stretch. Horne poured in 26 points in the win over Grambling and had a career-high 46 points in a loss to Southern on Feb. 14. Over his last seven games, he is averaging 26.0 points.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff looks to rebound from an 82-70 road loss at Alabama A&M on Monday. The Golden Lions are led by guard Alex Mirhosseini, who scored 26 points in that defeat. Mirhosseini has been a key facilitator during the team’s recent successes, including a 20-point, 6-assist performance in an 84-77 win over Alcorn State on Feb. 7.

Prairie View’s recent form has been uneven, with a 2-5 record in its last seven games. Arkansas-Pine Bluff had won four straight before dropping its last two contests on the road.

The matchup features two of the SWAC’s top offensive guards in Horne and Mirhosseini, setting the stage for a critical conference clash as the regular season enters its final weeks.
