Wilkins Leads Furman Past Chattanooga in Southern Conference Clash

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — Alex Wilkins scored 33 points to lead Furman to a 75-70 victory over Chattanooga in a Southern Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at Timmons Arena.

Wilkins, a junior guard from Mattapan, Massachusetts, added five assists for the Paladins, who improved to 16-7. Furman shot 50% from the field and made 9 of 20 three-point attempts. The Paladins also converted 16 of 21 free throws.

Brennan Watkins scored 19 points for the Mocs, who fell to 9-14. Chattanooga shot just 41% from the floor and 8 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Mocs outrebounded Furman on the offensive glass, 11-5, but could not overcome the shooting disparity.

Furman swept the regular-season series, having also won at Chattanooga on Jan. 7.
