Oklahoma at Texas A&M

Preview: Oklahoma at Texas A&M in SEC Showdown

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Interstat) — A pivotal early-season Southeastern Conference men’s basketball clash is set for Saturday at Reed Arena as the Texas A&M Aggies host the Oklahoma Sooners.

Both teams enter with strong momentum. Texas A&M (12-3, 2-0 SEC) is riding a six-game winning streak, most notably a 90-88 road victory at Auburn on Tuesday. Oklahoma (11-3, 1-0) has won five straight, including an 86-70 conference-opening win over Mississippi last Saturday.

The matchup features a compelling contrast in star power. For the Sooners, forward Mohamed Wague has emerged as a dominant interior force. He is coming off a career performance against Mississippi, recording 10 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks. Over his last six games, Wague is averaging a double-double.

The Aggies counter with dynamic guard Pop Isaacs, who is averaging 17.3 points over the last four contests. He scored 21 points and dished five assists in the win at Auburn, demonstrating his ability to take over in critical road environments, which will now be channeled at home.

Texas A&M’s offense has been explosive, scoring 111, 118 and 112 points in three of its last five home games. Oklahoma’s defense, anchored by Wague’s rim protection, will be tested. The Sooners have held opponents to 70 points or fewer in eight of their 11 wins.

This game marks the first meeting between the programs as SEC foes. The Aggies’ last loss was an overtime defeat at SMU on Dec. 7. Oklahoma’s last setback was an 86-70 road loss to Arizona State on Dec. 6.

The winner will secure a valuable resume-building victory and maintain pace near the top of the loaded SEC standings. For Texas A&M, it’s a chance to protect home court before a difficult two-game road trip to Tennessee and Texas. For Oklahoma, a road win would provide a significant boost ahead of hosting Florida next week.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in College Station.
