Florida Gulf Coast at Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The Samford Bulldogs, fresh off an overtime road victory, return home to host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs (3-2) outlasted Central Arkansas 84-77 in overtime on Sunday. Jadin Booth and Keaton Norris each played 41 minutes in the win, with Booth scoring 21 points and Norris adding 18 points and seven assists. Dylan Faulkner anchored the defense with 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Samford has shown resilience early, with two of its three wins coming in overtime periods.

Florida Gulf Coast (2-2) arrives with momentum after a dominant 91-73 home win over Chattanooga on Saturday. The Eagles’ offense was fueled by JR Konieczny, who scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Rahmir Barno, who added 20 points and eight assists.

The Eagles have been a tale of two teams, averaging 90.3 points per game in their two wins but just 82 points in their two losses, including a 113-70 defeat at Illinois.

Wednesday’s game at the Pete Hanna Center will be a test for both teams before they each embark on a stretch of road games later in the week.
