HONOLULU (Interstat) — Utah Tech and Mississippi Valley State, two teams looking to build momentum after challenging starts, will meet in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Friday in the 2025-26 Rainbow Classic.

The Trailblazers (2-3) are coming off a narrow 79-75 home loss to Manhattan on Wednesday. Ethan Potter led Utah Tech in that contest, posting a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Chance Trujillo added 15 points in the defeat, which was the Trailblazers’ third straight after a 2-0 start to the season.

The Delta Devils (1-2) last played on Nov. 7, suffering a 108-60 road loss to Murray State. Daniel Mayfield was a bright spot in that game, scoring 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Mississippi Valley State’s lone win was a 97-61 victory over MUW on Nov. 5, sandwiched between lopsided road losses to UAB and Murray State.

Both teams will continue play in Honolulu on Saturday, with Utah Tech facing host Hawaii and Mississippi Valley State taking on Manhattan.
