Oregon State at Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Santa Clara squad looks to rebound from a rare loss when it hosts an Oregon State team seeking consistency in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Leavey Center.
The Broncos (23-7), who have won seven of their last nine, are coming off a decisive 86-67 road loss to Saint Mary’s on Wednesday. Prior to that, they had won four straight, including an impressive 94-73 victory at San Francisco. Santa Clara’s offense, averaging over 84 points per game during its recent hot stretch, will be paced by guard Allen Graves. He scored 20 points in the loss to Saint Mary’s and erupted for 30 points in a win at Washington State earlier this month.
They face an Oregon State team (16-14) that is 5-2 in its last seven games but has struggled on the road, going 1-2 in its last three away contests. The Beavers are coming off a 92-82 overtime win against San Diego on Wednesday, led by guard Josiah Lake’s 15 points and nine assists. Lake has been a catalyst, averaging 16.4 points and 6.3 assists over his last seven outings.
This game is a rematch of a Dec. 28 meeting in Corvallis, where Santa Clara delivered a stunning 102-64 blowout victory. The Broncos shot 58% from the field in that game and dominated every facet, a performance Oregon State will be eager to avenge.
The Beavers will need a strong defensive effort to contain Santa Clara’s high-powered attack and avoid a similar fate. Their recent road form, including a 50-point outing in a loss at Seattle, raises questions about their ability to score consistently away from home. For Santa Clara, the focus will be on re-establishing its defensive intensity after surrendering 86 points to Saint Mary’s.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Leavey Center. Santa Clara holds a significant advantage in both record and recent head-to-head history, but Oregon State’s recent resilience, led by Lake, suggests they are capable of providing a stiffer challenge in the return fixture.
