Georgia at LSU
Preview: Georgia Bulldogs at LSU Tigers
BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — Two Southeastern Conference teams looking to steady their conference trajectories will meet Saturday when the Georgia Bulldogs visit the LSU Tigers at the Maravich Assembly Center.
The Bulldogs (16-6) have dropped three of their last four, including a 92-77 home loss to Texas A&M last Saturday. Georgia’s recent skid follows a strong start that included an overtime win over Auburn and a road victory at South Carolina.
LSU (14-8) is coming off a significant road win, defeating South Carolina 92-87 in overtime last Saturday. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Tigers, who have shown resilience but have struggled with consistency in SEC play.
A key matchup will feature emerging frontcourt players. Georgia sophomore forward Dylan James is coming off a dominant performance in the loss to Texas A&M, posting 13 points and 13 rebounds. His recent play, however, has been variable, logging just six minutes in a one-point overtime loss to Tennessee on Jan. 28.
For LSU, junior forward Rashad King is a barometer for the Tigers’ success. He played a season-high 39 minutes and scored 18 points with seven rebounds in the win at South Carolina. In LSU’s four SEC wins, King has averaged 30 minutes per game, compared to just 19.8 minutes in their five conference losses.
Georgia’s offense, which averages 82.2 points per game, will test an LSU defense that has allowed 77 or more points in four of its last five contests. The Bulldogs have multiple scoring options, including Jeremiah Wilkinson (17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists vs. Texas A&M) and Kanon Catchings.
LSU will counter with a balanced attack. Center Michael Nwoko scored 21 points against South Carolina, and forward Marquel Sutton added 16 points and eight rebounds in that outing.
Historically, LSU holds a commanding advantage in the series and will have the benefit of a raucous home environment. Georgia, however, has proven capable on the road this season with wins at Missouri and South Carolina.
Saturday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this game, Georgia will host Florida on Wednesday, while LSU will host Arkansas on Tuesday.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, in Baton Rouge.
