Aggies Ride Efficient Offense, Stifle Bulldogs in SEC Road Win
ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — In a pivotal Southeastern Conference clash that showcased a masterful offensive performance, the Texas A&M Aggies seized control early and never relented, defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 92-77 before a crowd of 10,195 at Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday.
The game’s decisive stretch arrived not with a single shot, but with a sustained and overwhelming first-half blitz from the Aggies. Leading by just two points in the opening minutes, Texas A&M unleashed a 17-0 run that transformed a competitive contest into a commanding lead from which Georgia would never recover. The surge, fueled by precise three-point shooting and stifling defense, saw the Aggies connect on four consecutive shots from beyond the arc. Pop Isaacs drilled two of those threes in quick succession, part of a flurry that pushed the lead to 19-2 and forced an early Georgia timeout just five minutes into the game.
That explosive run set the tone for the entire evening. Texas A&M, operating with ruthless efficiency, shot 44.8% from the field and an impressive 38.2% from three-point range. More critically, they were nearly flawless from the free throw line, converting 19 of 20 attempts. This offensive precision, which yielded 121.9 points per 100 possessions, contrasted sharply with Georgia’s struggles. The Bulldogs shot just 39.7% overall and a frigid 25% from deep, managing only 99.0 points per 100 possessions despite having more offensive rebounds and committing fewer turnovers.
The architect of the Aggies’ dominance was forward Rashaun Agee. The 6-foot-7 junior from Chicago delivered a complete and commanding performance, scoring 18 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and dishing out 7 assists. Agee was a constant force, anchoring the defense with a block and controlling the glass on both ends. His ability to facilitate from the high post was instrumental in breaking down Georgia’s defense and finding open shooters.
Texas A&M’s scoring was balanced and prolific behind Agee. Marcus Hill provided a crucial spark off the bench with 15 points, while Ali Dibba and Ruben Dominguez each added 13. Dibba’s scoring came on efficient 5-of-9 shooting, including three three-pointers. Isaacs finished with 11 points, all of which came during the Aggies’ game-defining first-half surge.
Georgia, which entered the game as a 3.5-point favorite, was led by Jeremiah Wilkinson’s 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Dylan James posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Kanon Catchings added 14 points. The Bulldogs fought to trim the deficit to single digits at several points in the second half, but each time Texas A&M had an answer, usually stemming from a timely three-pointer or a drive to the basket that resulted in free throws.
A key sequence early in the second half encapsulated Georgia’s frustrations. After cutting the lead to 11, the Bulldogs forced a turnover and had multiple chances to score on a single possession, but missed three point-blank attempts before Texas A&M secured the rebound. The Aggies then marched down the court and drew a foul, halting any building momentum.
While Georgia won the battle in the paint 44-34 and scored more fastbreak points, they could not overcome Texas A&M’s superior shot-making and game management. The Aggies’ 51-point first half gave them a 10-point cushion at the break, and they maintained at least a nine-point advantage throughout the final 20 minutes.
With the victory, Texas A&M improved to 17-4 overall and continued its strong start to SEC play. The Aggies have now won three consecutive conference games. Georgia falls to 16-6, suffering its second loss in three games after a heartbreaking overtime defeat to Tennessee earlier in the week.
Texas A&M next travels to face Alabama on Tuesday. Georgia will look to rebound on the road at LSU next Saturday.
