CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Interstat) — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi defeated Southeastern Louisiana 68-56 in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at American Bank Center.

The Islanders improved to 10-8 overall behind a balanced effort, while the Lions fell to 5-13. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi led 38-18 at halftime and withstood a stronger second half from Southeastern Louisiana. The Islanders were more efficient offensively and capitalized at the free-throw line, making 16 of 24 attempts.

Isaiah Gaines led all scorers with 18 points for Southeastern Louisiana. Nicholas Shogbonyo scored 14 points to pace Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Attendance was 2,011.
