Islanders Outlast Colonels in Southland Conference Road Victory
THIBODAUX, La. (Interstat) — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi avenged an earlier loss to Nicholls State with an 83-76 men’s basketball victory Saturday at Stopher Gym. The Islanders, led by 17 points each from Franck Yetna and Nicholas Shogbonyo, never trailed after halftime.
Nicholls State’s Sincere Malone scored a game-high 18 points, but the Colonels could not overcome a cold shooting afternoon from beyond the arc, making just 7 of 24 three-point attempts. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was more efficient, shooting 59% from the field and 83% from the free-throw line to secure the win.
The Islanders improved to 13-11 overall, while Nicholls State fell to 10-14. An announced crowd of 603 watched the Southland Conference matchup.
