Fresno State at Nevada

Preview: Fresno State at Nevada

RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — A hot-shooting rematch awaits in Reno on Saturday when the Nevada Wolf Pack hosts the Fresno State Bulldogs in a Mountain West Conference men’s basketball clash at Lawlor Events Center.

The Wolf Pack (16-7) look to defend their home court and complete a regular-season sweep after edging the Bulldogs 66-65 in Fresno on Jan. 3. Nevada, however, enters seeking momentum after a tough 91-87 overtime road loss at Boise State on Tuesday.

That defeat snapped a three-game winning streak for Nevada, which has been powered recently by the explosive scoring of guard Corey Camper. In his last two games, Camper poured in 35 points against the Broncos and 32 in a win over UNLV, establishing himself as one of the league’s most dynamic offensive threats.

Fresno State (11-10) arrives riding a wave of confidence following a thrilling 98-96 home victory over UNLV on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have won three of their last four, with guard Jake Heidbreder leading the charge. Heidbreder scored a career-high 29 points in the win over the Rebels and is averaging 20.1 points over his last seven contests.

The Bulldogs’ recent surge has been keyed by improved offense, averaging 79.2 points during their 3-1 stretch after a stretch of offensive struggles. Containing Camper will be their primary defensive focus, as he scored 23 points in the first meeting.

For Nevada, slowing Heidbreder and capitalizing on its home-court advantage are paramount. The Wolf Pack are 9-2 at home this season. Both teams feature potent guards capable of taking over, setting the stage for a pivotal conference matchup with postseason implications.

Saturday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. PST and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
