FRESNO, Calif. (Interstat) — Utah State built a large first-half lead and withstood a second-half push from Fresno State to win 72-63 in a Mountain West Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Save Mart Center.

The Aggies led 35-26 at halftime and maintained control despite both teams scoring 37 points after the break. The victory improved Utah State’s record to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Fresno State dropped to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the Mountain West before an announced crowd of 4,106. The Bulldogs could not overcome their slow start, despite matching Utah State’s scoring pace in the second half.
