Charlotte at Memphis
Preview: Charlotte 49ers at Memphis Tigers
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference teams seeking consistency will meet Sunday when the Charlotte 49ers visit the Memphis Tigers at FedExForum.
Charlotte (13-10) arrives after a 74-64 road loss at Wichita State on Wednesday, which snapped a four-game winning streak. The 49ers have been strong in close games, with three of their last five wins coming by three points or fewer, including an overtime victory at Temple.
Memphis (11-11) is coming off one of its best offensive performances of the season, a 90-80 win at UAB on Thursday. The Tigers have alternated wins and losses over their last six games, struggling to find a sustained rhythm in conference play.
The matchup features two of the league’s most dynamic scorers. Charlotte will lean on guard Dezayne Mingo, who is averaging 18.1 points over his last seven games. He recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists in the win at Temple on Jan. 28.
Memphis counters with high-scoring guard Sincere Parker, who is coming off a spectacular 40-point outburst at UAB. Parker has scored 20 or more points in three of his last five appearances, providing a major spark for the Tiger offense.
The game pits Charlotte’s recent resilience in tight contests against a Memphis team capable of explosive scoring. The 49ers have shown balance, with Major Freeman and Arden Conyers providing support alongside Mingo. Memphis will look for secondary scoring from Aaron Bradshaw and Curtis Givens to complement Parker.
This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this contest, Charlotte hosts UTSA on Feb. 15, while Memphis begins a two-game road trip at North Texas on Feb. 12.
Tip-off is set for Sunday afternoon in downtown Memphis.
