SOUTH DAKOTA STATE SEEKS TO SNAP SKID AGAINST STRUGGLING ORAL ROBERTS

BROOKINGS, S.D. (Interstat) — Two Summit League men’s basketball teams looking to halt slides will meet Saturday when South Dakota State hosts Oral Roberts at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits (10-12) have dropped three of their last four, including a 71-80 road loss at Omaha on Wednesday. They will try to regroup against a Golden Eagles squad mired in a nine-game losing streak.

Oral Roberts (5-17) arrives in Brookings following a 58-86 home defeat to North Dakota State on Jan. 24, a game in which the team allowed the Bison to shoot 56.7% from the field. The Golden Eagles’ last victory came on Dec. 22.

South Dakota State holds a distinct advantage in the conference standings, but consistency has been elusive. Kalen Garry leads the Jackrabbits, coming off a 22-point, 4-assist performance in the loss to Omaha. Over his last seven games, the guard is averaging 11.7 points and 3.6 assists.

Oral Roberts will lean on guard Cal Furnish, who logged 28 minutes and contributed 7 points and 5 rebounds in the loss to NDSU. Furnish has been a steady presence, averaging over 30 minutes per game in conference play, though his scoring output has varied.

The Jackrabbits won the season’s first meeting, 84-69, in Tulsa on Jan. 1. They have traditionally held serve at home in the series, winning the last five meetings at Frost Arena.

For South Dakota State, this game begins a critical three-game homestand. For Oral Roberts, it represents another opportunity to find a spark before a daunting stretch of conference play continues.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026.
