SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — The TCU Horned Frogs will look to halt a three-game skid when they visit the Utah Utes in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Saturday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

TCU (11-6) enters the contest after a narrow 76-70 road loss to BYU on Wednesday. The Horned Frogs’ recent schedule has been brutal, with consecutive losses to BYU, Arizona and Kansas, though the Jan. 6 defeat at Kansas came in overtime, 104-100. Prior to this stretch, TCU had won five straight, including a key 69-63 victory over Baylor.

Utah (8-9) is also seeking to end a losing streak, having dropped its last five games. The Utes fell 88-74 at Texas Tech on Wednesday. Their last win was a 101-77 rout of Eastern Washington on Dec. 20. Utah’s conference slate has opened with losses to Texas Tech, BYU, Colorado and Arizona.

A key matchup will feature TCU’s Xavier Edmonds against Utah’s Keanu Dawes. Edmonds is coming off a 19-point performance at BYU and has scored in double figures in five of his last six games, including a 21-point effort against Florida A&M. Dawes has been a consistent scorer for the Utes, averaging 16.2 points over his last five contests and posting 18 points in the loss at Texas Tech.

TCU will rely on its backcourt depth, as Brock Harding dished out seven assists against BYU. Utah’s Don McHenry and Terrence Brown, who combined for 35 points in the Texas Tech game, will need to provide supplemental scoring alongside Dawes.

The game represents a critical opportunity for both teams to stabilize their conference trajectories. TCU aims to rediscover its early-season form, while Utah desperately needs a win to break its prolonged slump.

Following this game, TCU hosts Oklahoma State on Jan. 20. Utah travels to face Kansas State on the same date.
