Saint Peter`s at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. (Interstat) — A surging Quinnipiac squad will look to protect its home court against a Saint Peter’s team finding its rhythm in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (12-5) enter the contest at TD Bank Sports Center having won three of their last four, including a 70-60 road victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Quinnipiac has been anchored by forward Amarri Monroe, who is averaging a double-double over his last five games. He is coming off an 11-point, 15-rebound performance and has recorded double-doubles in three of his last five outings.

The visiting Peacocks (8-6) have won four of their last five, most recently defeating Merrimack 76-63 on Sunday. Guard Brent Bland led Saint Peter’s in that win with 17 points and eight rebounds, continuing a strong stretch where he has averaged 15.8 points over his last five games.

Quinnipiac holds a distinct advantage in the frontcourt, ranking among the MAAC leaders in rebounding margin, largely thanks to Monroe’s presence. The Bobcats’ offense also runs through guard Asim Jones, who dished out 12 assists against Sacred Heart.

Saint Peter’s will counter with a balanced attack. Alongside Bland, forward Zaakir Williamson provides interior defense, blocking five shots last game, and guard Bryce Eaton facilitates, averaging 6.0 assists over the last two contests.

The Bobcats have been strong at home this season, while the Peacocks have shown resilience on the road, including a win at Fairfield last month. This game will be a test of Quinnipiac’s consistency against Saint Peter’s recent defensive intensity, which has held opponents under 70 points in four of its last five wins.

Wednesday’s result could provide early positioning in the MAAC standings as both teams approach the midpoint of the conference schedule.
