Georgetown at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Two Big East teams seeking momentum will meet Tuesday when the Creighton Bluejays host the Georgetown Hoyas at CHI Health Center.

Georgetown (9-7, 1-4 Big East) arrives after three consecutive conference losses, most recently a 76-67 home defeat to Seton Hall on Saturday. The Hoyas have struggled offensively during the skid, averaging just 66.7 points in losses to the Pirates, DePaul and Saint John’s.

Their brightest spot has been guard KJ Lewis. The sophomore is averaging 17.5 points over his last four games, including a 27-point performance against Saint John’s on Dec. 31. He scored 10 points with three assists in 31 minutes against Seton Hall.

Creighton (10-7, 2-3) is also looking to rebound from a lopsided home loss, having fallen 90-73 to Saint John’s on Saturday. The Bluejays’ conference results have been uneven, mixing a 23-point win over Marquette and a road victory at Villanova with narrow and decisive losses.

Freshman guard Blake Harper has provided a recent spark for Creighton. He is averaging 12.3 points over his last three contests, including a 17-point effort in the win at Villanova on Jan. 7. Harper scored 12 points with four rebounds in the loss to the Red Storm.

The matchup will feature contrasting styles. Georgetown has leaned on its defense, while Creighton ranks among the Big East leaders in scoring offense, averaging over 78 points per game. The Hoyas will need to contain a Bluejays attack that has topped 84 points in four of its last seven games.

Tuesday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They will meet again at Georgetown on Feb. 4.

The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. EST tipoff and will be broadcast on FS1.
