Austin Peay at Stetson

Preview: Austin Peay Governors at Stetson Hatters

DELAND, Fla. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference men’s basketball teams trending in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Austin Peay Governors visit the Stetson Hatters at Edmunds Center.

Austin Peay (9-5, 3-0 ASUN) enters on a four-game winning streak, including an 82-71 road victory at Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday. The Governors have found their rhythm in conference play, averaging 86.3 points per game in their three ASUN wins.

The Governors are powered by guard Zyree Collins, who is coming off a 25-point, 4-assist performance against FGCU. Over his last five games, Collins is averaging 18.2 points and 3.3 assists, providing consistent offensive firepower.

Stetson (6-10, 2-1) snapped a two-game skid with a 91-83 home win over Lipscomb on Thursday. The Hatters’ season has been marked by volatility, including a 53-point loss at Oklahoma on Dec. 22, but they are 2-1 to start league play.

The Hatters counter with standout guard Jamie Phillips, who erupted for 30 points and 6 assists in the win over Lipscomb. Phillips has been a high-volume scorer, averaging 21.8 points over his last five contests, including a 29-point, 9-rebound effort in a win at North Alabama.

Austin Peay’s early conference success has been built on efficient offense, shooting 50.4% from the field during its streak. Stetson has struggled defensively at times, allowing 79.1 points per game for the season.

The Governors have shown resilience in close games, with three wins by five points or fewer. Stetson is 5-3 at home this season but will face an Austin Peay team that is 3-1 in true road games.

This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the programs this season. They are slated to meet again in Clarksville, Tenn., on Jan. 24.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026.
