Dartmouth Routs Saint Peter’s for Road Victory

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Interstat) — In a commanding wire-to-wire victory, the Dartmouth Big Green defeated the Saint Peter’s Peacocks 87-61 in a non-conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Yanitelli Center.

The Big Green, who never trailed, improved their season record to 2-3, while the Peacocks fell to 2-4 in front of an announced crowd of 430.

Dartmouth established control early, opening the game on a 7-0 run and maintaining a firm grip throughout the first half. The Big Green’s offense was efficient and their defense disruptive, building a 36-28 lead by halftime. The second half saw no letup from the visitors, as they exploded for 51 points, consistently extending their advantage and cruising to the 26-point victory.

The game was defined by Dartmouth’s balanced and potent offensive attack, which overwhelmed Saint Peter’s. The Big Green capitalized on Saint Peter’s mistakes, scoring 15 points off turnovers compared to the Peacocks’ 9. While both teams were even in points in the paint with 28 and fastbreak points with 11, Dartmouth’s superior execution and shot-making proved decisive.

Jackson Munro was the engine for Dartmouth, delivering a complete performance. The 6-foot-8 forward from Wilmette, Illinois, recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while also contributing five assists and three blocked shots in 33 minutes of action. His presence on both ends of the floor was instrumental in the Big Green’s success.

Brandon Mitchell-Day led all scorers, pouring in 23 points on efficient shooting for Dartmouth. The 6-foot-8 forward from St. Louis added six rebounds and two assists in just 25 minutes. His scoring punch, particularly in the paint, provided a consistent threat the Peacocks could not contain.

Dartmouth’s backcourt also had a strong showing. Kareem Thomas, a 6-foot-5 guard from Wilmington, Delaware, chipped in 18 points and three assists. Jayden Williams, a 6-foot-6 guard from Windermere, Florida, added 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists. The duo’s ability to penetrate and score complemented the interior work of Munro and Mitchell-Day.

For Saint Peter’s, Brent Bland was the primary offensive option. The 6-foot-3 guard from Wheatley Heights, New York, finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 36 minutes. However, the Peacocks struggled to find consistent scoring beyond him, with their offense often stalling against a disciplined Dartmouth defense.

Jahki Gupton, a 6-foot-7 forward from Oakland, California, provided energy off the bench for the Peacocks with six points, four rebounds, and two blocks, while Bryce Eaton of Detroit added nine points and five rebounds.

The game’s outcome defied the pregame projections from Interstat’s ELO system, which had given Saint Peter’s a 60.90 percent probability to win. The combined score of 148 points also went over the betting over/under line of 143.5.

Dartmouth will look to build on this victory when they return home to face New Hampshire on Wednesday. Saint Peter’s aims to regroup before opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at home against Canisius on Friday.
