Texas A&M-Commerce at Rice

HOUSTON (Interstat) — Two teams looking to halt early-season slides will meet Friday when the Rice Owls host the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions in a non-conference men’s basketball game at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 1-2 records. The Owls are coming off an 81-69 home loss to Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday. Guard Trae Broadnax led Rice with 21 points, while forward Jimmy Oladokun recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lions are seeking to rebound from a 100-74 road loss to Hawaii this past Sunday. Josh Taylor was the top performer in that game, scoring 15 points. Texas A&M-Commerce’s lone win was a dominant 119-60 victory over Arlington Baptist, but it has struggled in its other two contests against Division I opponents, including a 76-54 loss at New Mexico.

The game offers a chance for either squad to build momentum before facing tougher upcoming schedules. Rice will travel to face Tennessee on Monday, while the Lions’ next outing is at home against Dallas Christian.

Tipoff is set for Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, in Houston.
