Alcorn State Braves Look to Halt Slide Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Interstat) — The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions will look to build on a recent road victory when they host the struggling Alcorn State Braves in a Southwestern Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at the HPER Complex.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

The Golden Lions (9-13, 5-4 SWAC) enter with momentum after a 67-64 win at Grambling on Wednesday. Guard Quion Williams has been a catalyst, averaging 17.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists over his last eight games. He nearly posted a triple-double with 18 points and nine assists in the win over Grambling.

UAPB has won three of its last four conference games, showcasing improved form after a tough non-conference slate.

Conversely, Alcorn State (4-17, 3-6) is reeling from a 74-50 home loss to Grambling on Monday, its seventh defeat in the last nine games. The Braves have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in five of those losses.

Guard Jameel Morris has been a bright spot for Alcorn, scoring in double figures in five of the last eight contests. He led the team with 15 points in the loss to Grambling.

The Braves will need a significant defensive effort to contain Williams and a UAPB offense that has averaged 77.3 points in its last three wins. Alcorn State allows an average of 75.9 points per game.

Historically, the home team has dominated this series. The teams will meet again in the regular-season finale on March 5 in Lorman, Mississippi.

For UAPB, this begins a critical two-game homestand before hitting the road. Alcorn State continues a stretch of four road games out of five as it seeks to climb the SWAC standings.
