Virginia Tech at North Carolina State

Preview: Virginia Tech at NC State in Key ACC Clash

RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — A pivotal Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball matchup is set for Saturday at Lenovo Center as the North Carolina State Wolfpack host the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Both teams enter with strong overall records, but contrasting recent momentum. NC State (17-6) has won six of its last seven games, including a dramatic 84-83 road victory at SMU last Tuesday. The Wolfpack’s offense has been potent, averaging 86.4 points during that stretch.

Virginia Tech (16-7), meanwhile, looks to rebound from a 72-58 home loss to Duke on Jan. 31 that snapped a three-game winning streak. The Hokies are 3-3 in their last six outings.

The game features two of the conference’s standout performers. NC State is led by guard Darrion Williams, who is averaging 20.1 points over his last seven games. He exploded for 25 points in the win at SMU. For Virginia Tech, forward Amani Hansberry has been a consistent force, scoring 20 points against Duke and averaging 15.7 points over his last three contests.

The Wolfpack have been formidable at home in ACC play, with decisive wins over Syracuse and Georgia Tech in Raleigh last month. Virginia Tech has struggled on the road in conference action, with recent losses at Louisville and a narrow defeat at SMU.

This contest is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. NC State holds a slight edge in the all-time series, but the Hokies have won two of the last three matchups.

Following this game, NC State travels to Louisville on Monday. Virginia Tech’s next contest is at Clemson on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, in Raleigh.
