Troy at Georgia Southern

Preview: Troy Looks to Extend Win Streak at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — Two of the Sun Belt Conference’s top teams will meet Saturday when the Troy Trojans visit the Georgia Southern Eagles at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Troy (14-6) enters on a five-game winning streak, most recently outlasting Old Dominion 83-77 in double-overtime on Wednesday. The Trojans have been dominant in conference play, with their last four wins coming by an average margin of 23.5 points.

Georgia Southern (13-8) looks to rebound after a disappointing 85-68 home loss to Arkansas State on Thursday. Prior to that, the Eagles had won three of their last four, including an overtime victory over Coastal Carolina.

The matchup features two of the league’s standout guards. Troy’s Theo Seng is coming off a career-high 24 points in 43 minutes against Old Dominion. Over his last eight games, the junior is averaging 14.6 points.

He will be matched by Georgia Southern’s dynamic scorer Tyren Moore. The senior is averaging 20.6 points over his last five contests, including a 34-point outburst in an overtime loss to Coastal Carolina on Jan. 17. Moore’s ability to score at all three levels makes him a constant threat.

Troy’s recent success has been built on balanced scoring and stout defense. In their win over Old Dominion, Victor Valdes added 21 points and Cooper Campbell dished out five assists to complement Seng’s output. The Trojans have held opponents to under 70 points in six of their 14 wins.

Georgia Southern will need to improve its defensive intensity after allowing Arkansas State to shoot 54% from the field on Thursday. The Eagles have shown resilience, however, with three overtime wins this season, demonstrating a knack for closing tight games.

The game is a critical mid-conference season test for both teams’ aspirations near the top of the Sun Belt standings. Troy seeks to continue its surge, while Georgia Southern aims to protect its home court and regain momentum before a two-game road trip next week.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, in Statesboro.
