Hamilton’s 38 Points Lift Georgia State to Narrow Win Over Arkansas State

ATLANTA (Interstat) — Jelani Hamilton scored a game-high 38 points as Georgia State edged Arkansas State 82-81 in a Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at GSU Sports Arena.

The Panthers, who improved to 9-12, survived a late push from the Red Wolves. Arkansas State’s Chandler Jackson hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left for the final margin. Georgia State sealed it at the free-throw line, making 20 of 22 attempts.

Hamilton’s performance, which included six 3-pointers, offset a 23-point effort from Arkansas State’s Christian Harmon. The Red Wolves (13-8) dominated inside with 38 paint points and 17 offensive rebounds but were undone by 13 turnovers, which Georgia State converted into 24 points.

A crowd of 2,078 saw the Panthers overcome a slight halftime deficit for the victory.
