Texas Tech Outlasts Houston in High-Scoring Big 12 Showdown
LUBBOCK, Texas (Interstat) — Texas Tech edged Houston 90-86 in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at United Spirit Arena, avenging a loss to the Cougars earlier this month. The Red Raiders built a 55-49 halftime lead behind efficient offense and held off a late Houston rally.
JT Toppin led Texas Tech with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Houston’s Kingston Flemings scored a game-high 42 points. The Red Raiders shot 24 for 30 from the free-throw line and outrebounded Houston 18-9 on the offensive glass, key factors in the four-point victory.
Texas Tech improved to 16-4. Houston fell to 17-2.
