NEWTON, Mass. (Interstat) — Boston College defeated Syracuse 81-73 in overtime Saturday in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game at Silvio O. Conte Forum.

The Eagles outscored the Orange 17-9 in the extra period to secure the victory. Syracuse led 33-28 at halftime, but Boston College forced overtime by winning the second half 36-31.

Fred Payne led Boston College with 26 points and six assists. Jayden Hastings added 10 points and 13 rebounds. For Syracuse, Nate Kingz scored a game-high 27 points, and Donnie Freeman posted 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Boston College improved to 8-10 overall. Syracuse fell to 11-6. Attendance was 8,606.
