RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — Derek Simpson scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Saint Joseph’s held off Richmond 67-65 in an Atlantic 10 men’s basketball game Sunday at Robins Center.

The Hawks built a 12-point halftime lead but had to survive a late push from the Spiders before 5,230 fans. Saint Joseph’s improved to 10-7 overall, while Richmond fell to 12-5.

Simpson led all scorers and added two assists in 36 minutes. Aiden Argabright paced Richmond with 15 points and five assists. The Spiders, pregame favorites, cut the deficit to two points but could not complete the comeback.
