Saint Joseph`s at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The surging Richmond Spiders will look to protect their home court and solidify their standing near the top of the Atlantic 10 when they host the Saint Joseph’s Hawks on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at the Robins Center.

Richmond (12-4, 2-1 A-10) enters on a two-game conference win streak following an 89-80 victory at Saint Bonaventure on Wednesday. The Spiders are led by guard Will Johnston, who is averaging 21.3 points over his last three games, including a 24-point performance against the Bonnies. His backcourt play will be central against a Hawks team known for its guard strength.

Saint Joseph’s (9-7, 1-1) is coming off a dramatic 97-90 overtime win against Duquesne, powered by a standout performance from Derek Simpson. The Hawks’ guard posted 22 points and 11 assists in 40 minutes, showcasing the dynamic playmaking he will need to replicate on the road. Simpson’s consistency is key; he followed a 40-minute, 22-point effort against Duquesne with a 6-point outing in a loss to Davidson just four days prior.

The matchup features a contrast in recent momentum. While the Spiders have won seven of their last nine, the Hawks have alternated wins and losses over their past six games. Richmond’s offense, which has scored 83 or more points in three of its last four, will test a Saint Joseph’s defense that allowed 102 points in a Dec. 31 loss at Saint Louis.

Historically, games at the Robins Center have been a challenge for visitors. The Hawks must contain Johnston and counter with efficient offense from Simpson and Jaiden Glover, who scored 28 points in the overtime win over Duquesne.

This contest marks the first of two scheduled meetings between the programs this A-10 season. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon.
