Gonzaga at Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — The Gonzaga Bulldogs, riding a seven-game win streak and showcasing one of the nation’s most potent offenses, visit Firestone Fieldhouse on Sunday to face a Pepperdine Waves team seeking a signature upset to turn around its season.

Gonzaga (12-1) enters West Coast Conference play with momentum, coming off a 91-82 road win at Oregon last Sunday. The Bulldogs’ lone loss was a 40-point defeat at Michigan in late November; they have since won by an average margin of 30.4 points, including a 35-point rout of Kentucky. Their offense averages 89.2 points per game.

Pepperdine (5-8) snapped a four-game skid with an 84-62 home victory over Rice on Dec. 20. The Waves have struggled defensively, allowing 73.2 points per game, and will face their toughest test of the season.

A key matchup will feature Gonzaga guard Braeden Smith against Pepperdine’s Aaron Clark. Smith is coming off a 21-point, 7-assist performance against Oregon and has been a steady facilitator. Clark has been a bright spot for the Waves, scoring 25 points in two of his last three games, including the win over Rice.

The Bulldogs have dominated this series, winning 45 consecutive meetings dating to 2002. In their last visit to Malibu in February 2025, Gonzaga won 92-58.

Gonzaga is a 28.5-point favorite according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 153.5 points.

For Pepperdine, the game begins a tough stretch to open WCC play, with a home game against Saint Mary’s looming on Tuesday. Gonzaga continues its Southern California road trip at San Diego on Tuesday. The teams will meet again in Spokane on Jan. 21.
