Iowa Dominates Western Michigan in Nonconference Tuneup
IOWA CITY, Iowa (Interstat) — Iowa overwhelmed Western Michigan 91-51 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes, improving to 9-2, built a 52-16 halftime lead and never looked back before a crowd of 10,341. Bennett Stirtz led a balanced Iowa attack with 13 points and six assists. Brendan Hausen and Alvaro Folgueiras also scored 13 points apiece.
The Broncos, who fell to 4-6, were led by Jalen Griffith’s 11 points and five assists. Carson Vis and Jayden Brewer each added 11 points. Western Michigan’s 35-point second half offered little resistance to Iowa’s consistent offense.
Iowa shot efficiently from the field while its defense stifled the Broncos throughout the first half to secure the decisive advantage.
