Jackson State at Louisiana-Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first win over a Division I opponent will meet Friday when the Jackson State Tigers face the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at the Cajundome.
Jackson State (0-6) enters the game winless after a challenging early-season schedule that featured four road games against Power Five conference opponents, including losses to Arkansas, Auburn, Louisville and Illinois. The Tigers are coming off an 80-62 home loss to Winthrop on Sunday. Dorian McMillian led the team with 19 points and five assists in that contest, while Tamarion Hoover and Jayme Mitchell added 12 and 16 points, respectively.
Louisiana-Lafayette (1-6) secured its only victory against Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 7 but has since dropped five straight. The Ragin’ Cajuns are returning from an 0-3 road trip through California, culminating in a 77-56 loss at UC Davis on Monday. Joshua Lewis paced the team with 11 points in the defeat.
Both teams have struggled defensively, with Jackson State allowing an average of 95.5 points in its six losses and Louisiana-Lafayette surrendering 76.7 points per game.
Friday’s matchup offers a critical opportunity for either squad to build momentum before conference play begins next month.
