Portland State at Montana

Preview: Portland State at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. (Interstat) — The Portland State Vikings look to solidify their standing near the top of the Big Sky Conference when they visit the Montana Grizzlies on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Dahlberg Arena.

Portland State (18-9, 8-6 Big Sky) enters the matchup after a tough 84-69 road loss at Montana State on Thursday. The Vikings had won four of their previous five before the setback. Montana (15-14, 7-7) snapped a three-game skid with an 81-73 home victory over Sacramento State on Thursday.

The game features a compelling backcourt duel between two of the league’s top scorers. Portland State is led by guard Terri Miller, who is averaging 22.4 points over his last eight games. He poured in 28 points in the loss at Montana State and has scored 20 or more points in six of those contests.

Montana counters with guard Money Williams, who has been consistently productive, scoring 14 or more points in seven straight games. He tallied 20 points and three assists in the win over Sacramento State and averages 20.1 points per game in that seven-game stretch.

The Grizzlies won the first meeting this season, 64-60, in Portland on Jan. 29. In that game, Montana limited the Vikings to 36.2% shooting from the field.

Portland State will aim for a split in the season series to maintain its position in the conference tournament seeding. A win would also secure a winning regular-season record. Montana, hovering near .500, seeks a victory to build momentum for the final stretch and improve its seeding for the upcoming Big Sky tournament in Boise, Idaho.

Saturday’s contest is the final regular-season home game for Montana. Portland State concludes its regular season at home against Weber State on Monday, while Montana finishes at Northern Colorado.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
