Missouri at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. (Interstat) — The Missouri Tigers, riding a wave of late-season momentum, visit the struggling Mississippi State Bulldogs in a Southeastern Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Humphrey Coliseum.

Missouri (19-9) enters on a high note after a 73-69 home victory over then-Tennessee on Tuesday, bolstering its NCAA Tournament resume. The Tigers have won four of their last five, with their only loss in that stretch a road defeat at Arkansas.

The Bulldogs (11-15), meanwhile, seek to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 100-75 road loss to Alabama. Mississippi State has lost seven of its last nine contests.

A key matchup will feature Missouri’s high-scoring guard T.O. Barrett against Mississippi State’s forward Achor Achor. Barrett is coming off a career-high 28-point performance against Tennessee and averaged 18.3 points in three games last week. He scored 16 points with eight rebounds and four assists in Missouri’s 84-79 win over Mississippi State on Jan. 31.

Achor has been a bright spot for the Bulldogs, scoring 18 points in each of his last two outings. He was limited to six points and four rebounds in the January meeting with the Tigers.

Missouri’s recent success has been fueled by offensive balance. Alongside Barrett, forward Mark Mitchell added 23 points against Tennessee. The Tigers have shown resilience, winning their last three games decided by five points or fewer.

Mississippi State will look to leverage its home court, where it is 8-5 this season, including a 91-85 win over Auburn on Feb. 18. Guard Josh Hubbard, who scored 11 points against Alabama, and forward King Grace, who added 13, will need to provide supplementary scoring alongside Achor.

The Tigers hold a slight edge in the recent series, having won the first meeting this season. A victory would secure a regular-season sweep for Missouri and solidify its standing in the SEC, while the Bulldogs aim to play spoiler and build positive momentum heading into the final week of the regular season.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. EST Saturday.
