NJIT at Bryant
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (Interstat) — The NJIT Highlanders, riding a wave of late-season momentum, visit the struggling Bryant Bulldogs in an America East Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Chace Athletic Center.
NJIT (15-14) enters the contest having won five of its last seven games, positioning itself for a potential upper-division conference tournament seed. The Highlanders’ recent success has been fueled by guard Sebastian Robinson, who is averaging 18.4 points over his last seven contests. He scored 23 points in consecutive road wins at Maine and New Hampshire earlier this month and dropped 22 in a key victory at Vermont on Jan. 31.
Bryant (8-20) looks to halt a four-game skid and find consistency in its season finale. The Bulldogs have lost 10 of their last 12, with their only wins in that stretch coming at home against Maine and New Hampshire. Guard Keegan Harvey has been a bright spot, averaging 16.1 points per game during that 12-game span, including a 28-point, 3-block performance at UMass Lowell on Feb. 12.
The Highlanders dominated the first meeting this season, a 79-55 victory in Newark on Jan. 19. NJIT has relied on a balanced attack, with David Bolden and Melvyn Ebonkoli providing consistent secondary scoring alongside Robinson.
For Bryant, which will honor its seniors Saturday, the focus will be on improving a defense that has allowed 80.3 points per game during its current four-game losing streak. Harvey and forward Timofei Rudovskii, who had 14 points in the loss to UMBC, will need support to counter NJIT’s offensive rhythm.
This game serves as the regular-season finale for both teams before the America East tournament. NJIT can solidify its standing, while Bryant aims to build positive momentum and snap its losing streak on its home floor.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST.
