LEXINGTON, Va. (Interstat) — East Tennessee State led from start to finish in an 87-70 victory over Virginia Military Institute in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday at Cameron Hall.

The Buccaneers built a 40-33 halftime lead and extended it in the second half, sweeping the season series from the Keydets. East Tennessee State dominated inside, outscoring VMI 36-22 in the paint and adding 13 fast-break points. The Buccaneers improved to 18-7 overall and in Southern Conference play, while VMI fell to 6-19.

A crowd of 1,433 watched as East Tennessee State efficiently dispatched the home team, covering the pregame spread as a heavy favorite. The combined score of 157 points went over the projected total.
