Machowski Leads Wofford Past Western Carolina in Southern Conference Matchup
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — Nils Machowski scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Saturday as Wofford defeated Western Carolina 77-66 in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The Terriers (17-8) used a decisive first-half run to build a lead and never trailed after the opening minutes. Wofford shot 54.5% from the field and capitalized on Western Carolina miscues, scoring 17 points off turnovers. The Catamounts (8-15) were led by Marcus Kell and Cord Stansberry, who each scored 13 points, but shot just 40% overall. Wofford’s efficient offense, which also saw 18 points from Cayden Vasko and 16 from Chace Watley, proved too much for Western Carolina to overcome in the Southern Conference contest attended by 1,932 fans.
