CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Miami team looks to continue its strong ACC campaign when it hosts a California squad seeking a resume-building road win on Saturday at Watsco Center.
The 12th-ranked Hurricanes (17-4) have won five of their last six, including a 79-70 victory over Stanford on Wednesday. Forward Malik Reneau has been a consistent force, averaging 18.7 points over his last seven games. He posted 20 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Syracuse on Jan. 24.
The Golden Bears (15-6), in their first season of ACC play, have struggled recently away from home, losing four of their last five road contests. They are coming off a narrow 63-61 loss at Florida State on Wednesday. Guard Justin Pippen, son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, leads California. He is averaging 16.0 points per game in conference play and scored 19 in the loss to the Seminoles.
This matchup, organized by the ACC, pits Miami’s efficient offense against a California team trying to stabilize after a promising start to the season. The Hurricanes have scored 79 or more points in four of their last five wins. California’s defense, which allowed an average of 77.5 points in its recent road losses, will be tested.
Miami holds a 7-2 advantage in the all-time series, though the teams have not met since 2013. The Hurricanes are 10-1 at home this season, while California is 3-4 in true road games.
For Miami, a win maintains momentum in a tight conference race. For California, an upset would provide a crucial quadrant-one victory and halt its road skid. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026.
