North Florida at Central Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Central Arkansas looks to continue its climb in the ASUN Conference standings when it hosts a North Florida team fresh off its best offensive performance of the season on Saturday at the Farris Center.
The Bears (8-10, 3-2 ASUN) have won three of their last four, including a gritty 62-60 home victory over Jacksonville on Thursday. Luke Moore led the way with 19 points, continuing a strong stretch for the guard. Over his last two games, Moore is averaging 18 points, showcasing an increased scoring role for a Central Arkansas squad finding its footing in league play.
They will face a North Florida team (3-15, 1-4) that is coming off a stunning 105-91 road win at North Alabama, snapping a seven-game skid. The Ospreys’ offense, which had struggled for consistency, exploded behind a career-high 35 points from junior guard Kent Jackson. He added five assists in the victory, highlighting his dual-threat capability. Jackson has been a bright spot, averaging 19.1 points over his last seven contests.
Despite North Florida’s overall record, the Ospreys have shown they can be dangerous, as evidenced by the 105-point outburst. Kamrin Oriol complemented Jackson with 21 points and eight assists against North Alabama, giving the visitors a potent backcourt combination.
Central Arkansas will counter with its own momentum, having protected its home court in conference play with wins over Stetson, Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville. The Bears’ defense, which held Jacksonville to 60 points, will be tested by North Florida’s suddenly confident scorers.
Historically, the Bears have dominated the series, winning the last six meetings. They won both matchups last season by an average of 17.5 points.
Saturday’s game represents a critical juncture for both teams’ conference trajectories. Central Arkansas aims to solidify its position in the upper half of the standings, while North Florida seeks to prove its recent offensive explosion was a turning point, not an anomaly.
Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Conway.
