Wolfpack Overwhelm Seminoles in Record-Setting ACC Rout

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — In a display of offensive firepower and defensive dominance rarely seen in Atlantic Coast Conference play, the North Carolina State Wolfpack delivered a stunning 113-69 rout of the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday afternoon at Donald L. Tucker Center.

The Wolfpack, improving to 12-5 overall, left no doubt from the opening tip, constructing a 25-point halftime lead and never relenting to hand the Seminoles their ninth loss in 16 games this season. The 44-point margin of victory was a comprehensive reflection of a game controlled in every facet by the visitors.

The most critical phase of the contest was its explosive start. North Carolina State set the tone immediately, opening the game on a 14-0 run before Florida State managed its first points nearly five minutes into the action. The Wolfpack’s defensive pressure was suffocating, forcing turnovers and converting them into easy baskets, while their offensive execution was nearly flawless. This early blitz effectively decided the contest before the first media timeout, silencing the home crowd of 6,917 and forcing Florida State into a desperate chase it would never sustain.

North Carolina State’s offensive performance was historically efficient. The Wolfpack shot 55% from the field and a scorching 54% from three-point range, connecting on 19 of 35 attempts from beyond the arc. They assisted on 11 of their 38 made field goals and committed only nine turnovers. The advanced metrics were staggering; NC State scored 113 points on just 78 possessions, an offensive rating of 145.0, while Florida State managed only 69 points on 79 possessions, an offensive rating of 87.6.

The Wolfpack’s attack was balanced and potent. Ven-Allen Lubin, a 6-foot-8 forward from Orlando, anchored the paint with 19 points and four blocked shots in just 25 minutes. Paul McNeil, a 6-5 guard from Rockingham, North Carolina, led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers. Darrion Williams of Sacramento added 20 points and five assists, while Terrance Arceneaux of Beaumont, Texas, chipped in 13 points. The bench provided a major spark, led by Matt Able of Baltimore with 15 points and Quadir Copeland of Philadelphia, who dished out a game-high six assists to go with 10 points.

Defensively, North Carolina State was equally imposing. They recorded 11 steals and seven blocks, harassing Florida State into 13 turnovers which they converted into 23 points. The Seminoles were held to 39% shooting overall and a dismal 22% from three-point range, making only 5 of 23. Florida State’s Thomas Bassong, from Paris, France, provided a bright spot with 14 points, but no other Seminole reached double figures. The home team was out-rebounded on the offensive glass 11-4 and managed only five assists for the entire game.

The Wolfpack led 56-31 at halftime and continued to expand their advantage in the second half, eventually leading by as many as 44 points. The victory marked a significant bounce-back performance for North Carolina State following a 76-61 home loss to Virginia in their previous ACC contest. For Florida State, the lopsided defeat continued a difficult stretch in conference play.

North Carolina State will look to carry this momentum into a home game against Georgia Tech on Jan. 17. Florida State, meanwhile, must regroup quickly for a road trip to face Syracuse on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
