Wofford at Mercer

Preview: Wofford Terriers at Mercer Bears

MACON, Ga. (Interstat) — Southern Conference rivals trending in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Wofford Terriers visit the Mercer Bears at Hawkins Arena.

Wofford (11-5) enters on a four-game winning streak, including a 97-85 victory over UNC Greensboro on Wednesday. The Terriers’ offense has been potent, averaging 86.5 points during the streak.

The Terriers are led by guard Kahmare Holmes, who is coming off a career-high 27-point performance against UNCG. Over his last seven games, Holmes has averaged 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists, showcasing a versatile all-around game. His backcourt mate, Cayden Vasko, added 11 points and eight assists in the latest win.

Mercer (9-7) snapped a three-game skid with a dominant 101-63 rout of The Citadel on Wednesday. The Bears’ strength lies in their frontcourt, anchored by forward Armani Mighty. The defensive standout has recorded 23 blocks in his last seven games, including a five-block performance against Furman on Dec. 31, where he also grabbed 13 rebounds. In the win over The Citadel, Mighty scored 18 points.

The Bears have faced a challenging non-conference schedule, with four of their seven losses coming on the road against power-conference opponents Clemson, UCF and Washington State, along with a tight loss at Furman.

Wofford holds the better overall record, but Mercer has won three of its last four home games. The Terriers will look to continue their offensive efficiency, while the Bears will rely on Mighty’s interior presence to control the paint and disrupt Wofford’s rhythm.

This matchup is the first of a home-and-home series between the teams, who will meet again in Spartanburg, S.C., on Jan. 24.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in Macon.
