EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (Interstat) — Jon Carroll converted a crucial three-point play with 35 seconds remaining to lift Morehead State to a 73-72 victory over SIU Edwardsville in an Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Vadalabene Center.

The Eagles (7-8, 1-1) survived a late push from the Cougars (9-6, 1-1) in a game featuring 13 lead changes and neither team leading by more than six points. Carroll finished with 17 points for Morehead State, while Chase Dawson also scored 17.

SIU Edwardsville’s Darrion Baker led all scorers with 15 points. The Cougars had a chance to win in the final seconds, but a last-second shot missed. Morehead State overcame 14 turnovers by shooting 53.2% from the field and outscoring SIU Edwardsville 15-7 in fastbreak points. Attendance was 1,869.
